Am I Safe Buying A Stove?

With all the Hype and Inaccurate Information being seen in the press lately about the ‘Ban’ on Stoves, due to the emissions and Dirty Air being found in some of our Inner cities, let’s take a Look at some of the statements that have been made and some of the Myths being banded around about these Fantastic items which can heat your home in a Sustainable way when run correctly. Also it will show that Upgrading your old Stove to a New Highly Efficient and clean Running Stove will help you cut down your costs, it will also Help Greatly your addition to the Clearing of the Air we breathe

This story was started by environmentalists in London and caught on by the current Mayor, Sadiq Khan. They were saying that a large proportion of the emissions which are affecting our health are coming from Open solid fuel Fires and Stoves that have been installed and used for many Years. This type of Heat source is a wholly inefficient means of heating your home and does not wholly eradicate the toxic emissions from the fuel source People are burning.

Consumers think that they can burn anything on a fire and it will not do any harm. The reverse is true. Burning Unseasoned wood, Pallets, Painted wood, MDF and household rubbish will create so many different types of Toxic gases, that this is the reason why we are having such an Environmental Issue in our Cities.

When you are out next, Just look up at the Chimney pots in your area. If you see Plumes of Black/Grey smoke coming out of them, it is not just that they have a Coal/Wood fire/Stove. They are burning Dirty, unseasoned fuel, Rubbish and scrap wood. A Chimney burning the correct fuel and operating correctly, should not emit any plumes of smoke, it should be almost Impossible to see, you may just see a shimmer of the heat coming out of the Pot. This is not emitting any toxins, the New stove is burning them off before they go up the flue and it is creating more heat into your room, from the burning of these gasses.

Burning Seasoned/ Kiln Dried Logs, Smokeless fuel, Wood Pellets etc in a New, Highly efficient Stove will almost eradicate all of these Toxins, Give you more Heat into your home and allow you to burn less fuel Compared to a 10 Year old Stove or an Open Fire. If you burn recently cut down branches ( Green wood) , Pallets, Household rubbish, the Moisture in it will create steam, the moisture will hamper the fuel from igniting and burning properly, not allowing the heat to generate, creating creosote which will block your flue, Damage your Stove and potentially create a Chimney Fire.

All of the Stoves we, at Quality Fireplaces sell are at least DEFRA Approved, Most of them are already satisfying, if not Exceeding the Forthcoming Eco 2022 Emissions/Efficiency Regulations already agreed to by the UK Government..

Buying One of these stoves and burning the correct fuel on it, will cut down on the amount of Fuel you use, Create more heat into your home and most importantly, cut down Vastly on the amount of Emissions your Stove produces, which in turn is good for the Environment.
